Garage Door Service · Jacksonville, FL
A dented, cracked, or storm-punctured panel doesn't mean the whole door has to go. On most sectional doors, we can source and install a matching replacement panel section without touching the rest of the door.
Overview
Sectional garage doors are built from individually bolted horizontal panel sections, which is exactly why a single damaged section can usually be swapped out on its own. Matching the existing panel's profile, color, and window cutout (if it has one) is the trickier part, especially on older doors where the original manufacturer no longer makes that exact style.
The most common causes we see are a car bumper or trailer hitch backing in too far, a basketball or yard tool thrown the wrong way, and — especially after a Jacksonville storm season — wind-blown debris or a fallen branch. Garage doors facing the street or a narrow driveway take the brunt of it more than interior-facing doors.
Our Process
Operating a door with a badly damaged or buckled panel can put uneven stress on the track and hinges on a working cycle, sometimes turning a cosmetic problem into a mechanical one. If a panel is structurally compromised, not just dented, we'd recommend holding off on using the door until it's repaired.
Replacing one or two panels is almost always significantly less expensive than a full door replacement, and it's the option we lead with whenever a match is realistically available.
Panels and the labor to install them are covered under our parts and labor warranty.
Frequently Asked Questions
We do our best to match manufacturer, color, and profile. On newer doors this is usually an exact match. On older doors, color fade and discontinued styles can make a perfect match difficult, and we'll always tell you upfront if that's the case for your door.
Occasionally, on minor cosmetic dents in steel panels, yes. Cracked, buckled, or insulated panels with damaged foam backing generally need to be replaced rather than straightened.
Most residential doors have four horizontal sections, though it varies by door height. Replacing one section doesn't require replacing the others.
It depends on the severity. A shallow cosmetic dent is purely visual, but a buckled or cracked panel can affect how the door tracks and seals, which is worth having looked at sooner rather than later.
